About the Baron role:

[KISS] has been here for a long time, and a part of the reason for this is our ability to change and adapt to the growing needs of our members. 4 years and still going strong, and 1700+ members later, it goes without saying that in order to keep the Alliance fresh and in a state of constant improvement, that we occasionally add new ranks or titles. Most recently was the creation of the Alliance Leader position, that was later re-named to Senior Officers. This new position has been instrumental in taking some of the brunt of managing such a large Alliance off the Alliance Managers so that they can focus on more long term issues.

One of the things we wanted to create was a means to recognize the truly amazing people that make up [KISS]. Those individuals that are highly knowledgeable in the game, incredibly helpful to others within the Alliance, and who by their vary nature promote [KISS] in the most positive way possible. One of the areas we want to improve upon is our reputation within the Guild Wars Community.

So, like Knights of Old, who took up their Kingdom’s Banner and went charging out to battle dragons and save damsels in distress, we have come up with the Baron title. Ideally we’d like to have a total of 20 Barons (one per Guild) that would form a Council of Barons, not at all dissimilar to the Knights of the Round Table. But, before we reach that point, we have to choose the Barons.

How it works:

Each GM will look within their guild for a Member or Officer they feel will make a good Baron.
The GM will then send the person’s name to the SO/AM.
The SO/AM will interview the individuals and make a final decision to offer the position or decline.
No one can APPLY for the position, they are NOMINATED by the Guild Managers.

What To Look For:

Individuals knowledgeable in some aspect of the game (Making Builds, Speed Clearing, Farming, Highley Sociable.)
Individuals who are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable with the structure of [KISS] who are self-motivated, who have and use Ventrilo.
This position is also available to new comers on ventrilo etc.

How the Barons fit into the [KISS] Structure:

Barons will be Officer positions. They are not above other Officers in the Guilds. They are not above Guild Managers, Senior Officers, or Alliance Managers. The Barons will be the ‘GO TO’ person that Alliance Members can go to if they need help or answers and have exhausted all other means. They will also help with Events. No one will be forced to take the title or position if they do not want it. It may be declined or accepted on an individual basis.

The Barons will be identified by a special tag on Ventrilo. Either [BRN] or [XXX][B] - the first part of the latter being their guild tag.
The Barons will be here to help: You each other as a team & [KISS] Alliance,and are not to be hounded, They will help if available and willing.

Since this is still in the early stages of development, we will be looking to everyone to submit their ideas and feedback to help fine tune the details. As time progress and more Barons are selected we will be able to do more with the position as the needs of the Alliance changes. With everyone’s help we feel this could be a very positive thing and can push [KISS] to new heights!

We have spoken to all Available Guild Managers, Senior Officers over the past week, & the feedback was good the idea is positive and we would like your support.

The idea seems kinda blurry as it's still in "development" and I'd be more than happy to see it develop. Imma keep my status neutral untill I've seen some sort of result :S

btw, I know my previous post was a bit negative.. but it was still my opinion. And I still have a few questions, but I'm not sure you/we are far enough into the idea to answer them :b

Interesting Idea........... this will hopefully help reduce the "need help" ads on alliance chat and stop the myth that people dont help people in KISS.
